About the Event

About Rochelle Potkar:Join us for a unique workshop led by Rochelle Potkar, a prize-winning and widely anthologized poet. Rochelle is an alumna of Iowa’s International Writing Program (2015) and a Charles Wallace Writer’s Fellow at the University of Stirling (2017). Her acclaimed book Paper Asylum (haibun) was shortlisted for the Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize 2020. Rochelle’s poetry film Skirt features on Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland. She is also the author of Bombay Hangovers (short stories), Four Degrees of Separation (poetry), and her latest book, Coins in Rivers. Rochelle’s work has been translated into multiple languages and she has read her poetry across the globe. She serves on the syllabi boards at St. Xavier's College, Mumbai and Wilson College, and has mentored at Iowa-USA’s International Writing Programs and the Himalayan Writing Retreat.

Workshop Overview:Explore the art of haibun and haiku in this workshop. Haiku, a form of Japanese short poetry, and haibun, which seamlessly weaves prose and poetry, offer a unique way to balance narrative and verse. This workshop provides the perfect opportunity to play with words, combining storytelling with poetry.
